Surprising facts about sex. Part 1

Sex... a subject that catches the interest of many. And the question pops up, what possibly we don't know about intimacy, since everything regarding the sex topic has already been studied inside and out? But every year we get more and more new facts about this kind of enjoyable activity for both men and women.

We put together 8 interesting and surprising facts about sex that many of you probably did not know:

1. Synchronized orgasm is not that simple

All beautiful and easy it looks only when you are watching porn. In reality, the statistics shows that there are only 10% of couples out there that can simultaneously experience an orgasm during sex. But those who happen not be the lucky ones should not despair just yet. Sexologists say that the inability to finish at the same time does not affect family harmony in any way.

2. Physical activity 4 times a week positively affects the intimate life

Scientists from California came to such a conclusion. In their study, which was dedicated to reveal whether or not exercising matters, experts found that physically active people have 30% more sex and experience 25% more orgasms.

3. Sex can replace physical activity

Anthony Carelli, a Professor at the University of Quebec in Montreal, has studied the effects of sex as a type of physical activity. He came to the conclusion that sex is a moderate physical activity, which in its effect on the body is comparable to playing tennis or walking up the street. And the scientist revealed that during sex, men burn about 4 Kcal per minute. For comparison, men burn 9 Calories per minute while running.

4. Spermatozoa live and remain active in the cervical canal for 5-8 days

This fact is confirmed by various studies. This means that after unprotected sexual intercourse, a woman can get pregnant even 8 days after.

5. The average sperm swimming speed in human semen is 4 millimeters per minute

The slowest ones move at a speed of 1 mm/min. The sperm size is 55 microns (0.055 mm), and the average path length in the fallopian tube is 175 mm. By simple mathematical calculations, it can be determined that it will take 44 minutes for spermatozoa to get through this path. But in reality, it takes much longer – on average, 3 days.

6. This slow movement of male germ cells is due to the fact that they move against the reverse flow of fluid in the female body

And only one in five sperm cells is moving in the right direction.

7. Sex is not only a pleasure tool, but also a great painkiller

During sexual intercourse, the hormone oxytocin is released into the human blood. Under the influence of this hormone, special substances having an analgesic effect are produced (a kind of morphine analogue).

8. And sex helps to stay young

This is facilitated by the hormone DHEA, which is responsible for the development of new brain cells, has a positive effect on the immune system and skin condition. And it is during sex when the level of this hormone goes up.

That's what it turns out to be a productive and useful thing to do in your free time – to have sex. Not only brings pleasure, but also positively affects our body.
