How to stop quitting exercise
Many of us probably have attempted to begin a new life, eat healthy and exercise regularly starting Monday. The most persistent individuals even buy an annual fitness membership and new sneakers. It's commendable, but very often all this courage and determination last only for a couple of months, and then people tend to find standard excuses.
Let’s have a look at everyone's favourite excuses:
No time
10 minutes. This is about the amount of time it will take to do your morning workout. Just start your day a little earlier. Just a month will be enough to notice the changes in your body.
I don't have any equipment
You won't need any. The most effective exercises are those ones that you do using your own bodyweight. That strengthens the muscles and contributes to weight loss.
Lack of motivation
Exercising isn't only about losing weight to get ready for summer or a wedding. Physical activity is, first of all, strong health, and only then a beautiful body.
Not in the mood to work out
During exercise, our body releases endorphins, the hormones that make us happy. Even a short workout will help you feel better and let go of the negative emotions.
Here are 6 tips that you can follow to stay on track all the way and achieve the desired results:
Set a real goal
Start small. For example, exercise every day for 10 minutes. When you realize that you have reached your goal, modify it and move on.
Set concrete time limits for your goal
Better yet, the exact day. Mark it in the calendar, so it will be easier to achieve what you want on time.
Find a workout buddy
Exercising as a team motivates us to work out harder. In one study, participants with various levels of training were asked to pedal for 20 minutes with a high load. Those who were exercising next to someone else had a significantly higher heart rate (14 beats per minute for women and 25 beats per minute for men).
Another study confirmed that those couples who start working out together actually stick to exercising, only 3.6% quit after a year. If only one of the spouses starts training, then a year after almost half of them (43%) quits.
Share your goals and achievements with your friends and family
This will help you to stay on track, otherwise you will have to explain to everyone why you couldn't fulfill your goals.
Buy new sportswear
It is much more enjoyable to work out wearing some nice outfit and new trainers. In addition, it will be a shame if the purchased clothes will be just hanging in your closet.
Let your body rest
The body needs to be given time to recover periodically. It is important not to go crazy with exercising, otherwise there is a huge chance that you will be sick and tired of all of it pretty soon.
A plan to start a new life from Monday or January 1 should remain in the past. Don't try to find excuses, try to find motivation. Exercising isn't a one-time event, but a lifestyle. If you have started training, make it your habit, which will only benefit to your health and well-being.
