10 ways to protect yourself from diseases of the male reproductive system
According to the world health organization, in 2016, 376 million cases of infection, including one of the four STDs, were registered worldwide.
However, if you implement certain recommendations, your genitals will be protected. Have a look at the the main ones:
1. Follow the rules of intimate hygiene
Due to improper or insufficient care of intimate parts, conditions needed for an infection to spread are easily developed. But keep in mind that excessive use of chemicals contained in some hygiene products can cause allergies.
2. Shave carefully
Scientists from the department of urology at the University of California have confirmed that careless shaving can result in the development of infectious diseases: infectious agents enter the body through micro-cuts that remain on the skin as a result of careless shaving. The study analyzed the health status of 7,580 men aged 18-65 years. Experts found the following: 17% of men who shaved more than 11 times a year were four times more likely to have venereal diseases, in contrast to those who shaved less often or did not at all.
3. Masturbate
Masturbation contributes to the active production of antibodies (immune system cells that fight viruses): after this process, their number increases by 40%. But still, do not take advantage of this advise, make sure to avoid excessive masturbation.
4. Use condoms
HIV infection will not be transmitted when condoms are used correctly. That was proved in a large-scale and only study in the world, conducted by American scientists at the Institute of health in 1998-2000.
5. Avoid overheating the testicles
The maximum comfortable temperature for a man's scrotum is 32 degrees. Overheating the testicles leads to their inability to produce an adequate semen volume. Reduced sperm count and sedentary work altogether can be the reason for infertility in the future.
6. Eat properly
Eating sugary and fatty foods generally results in having excess weight, which in turn increases the level of "bad" cholesterol in the blood. As a result, cholesterol plaques are formed in the blood vessels, which interfere with normal blood supply. That affects the pelvic organs, including the penis (the artery through which blood flows to the main male organ is very narrow).
7. Stay away from soy-based foods
American scientists have found that the more soy-based foods man eats, the less sperm is generated in his body. This pattern is explained by the fact that soy contains a lot of isoflavones (substances that are similar in structure and their effect on the body to the female hormone estrogen).
8. Do not hold it when you need to use the restroom
If you suppress the body's natural urges to defecate and urinate, the body can become intoxicated by accumulated acids and ammonia in the bladder, and feces and gases that have formed in the intestines. Due to regular long-term contact of the rectal mucosa with faecal matter, inflammation in the intestine may develop, and later – cancer. If the bladder is constantly full, its walls may stretch. As a result, the receptors will stop signaling to the body in time when you have to go.
9. See your doctor regularly
We have repeatedly spoken about the fact that almost all diseases diagnosed at an early stage are treatable. Therefore, use getting annual urological check-up as a tool to avoid a lot of ramifications.
10. Perform the self-diagnosis
Urologists recommend to self-examine the testicles once a month to make sure there are no lumps or bumps.
If you stick to these simple recommendations, it will not be that difficult to protect yourself from the reproductive system diseases and maintain reproductive function. Do not neglect the subject of men's health because only then you will be able to stay sexually active as you age.
