10 tips on how to be in control of men's health

Men are not used to complaining about their problems, even if they are related to health. According to statistics provided by the Adolescent male health press, representatives of the male population are being examined by doctors in their childhood, and the next time they seek medical help is at the age of 50, when they already may have serious diseases.

But men should be aware of the fact that any health problems eventually affect men's sexual strength. This statement was first made by assistant Professor of the New York University school of medicine Steven Lamm.

Here are 10 tips to follow to be in control of men's health:

1. Avoid overheating your testicles

Consider that to be a very important rule, because every day approximately 200,000,000 male germ cells are produced in the testicles. The normal temperature for the testicles should be 4 degrees below the general body temperature. Imagine that even if you submerge your testicles in hot water for a few minutes, it can lead to the fact that a man will not be able to get a woman pregnant for six months. That is why overheating of the scrotum is strictly prohibited.

2. Men's underwear shouldn't be tight

Several studies have been conducted establishing a link between wearing tight underwear and men's ability to fertilize. Experts revealed that men whose choice was to wear loose underwear, had the number of sperm in the seminal fluid significantly higher than those men who preferred tight underwear. That applies not only to underwear. Men should avoid any tight clothing: jeans, pants, etc. And scientists also had to say that to preserve the health of the genitals, it is better to give preference to loose fitting cotton boxers and stay away from trunks that are so popular nowadays.

3. Genital self examination

Urologists recommend that you do this kind of check-up at least once a month. In some cases, this helps identify existing problems or diseases. In the United States, approximately 8,000 men aged 15-40 are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year. If the disease is detected at an early stage, a complete recovery occurs in 95% of cases. If not, the disease spreads and develops metastases.

Here is a checklist that will help do a check-up on your own:

  • Take the testicles in your hands and try to estimate their weight, the weight of both should be approximately the same.
  • Hold the testicle so that the index and middle fingers are on one side and the thumb on the other. Carefully roll and feel the testicle with your fingers to make sure that there are no tenderness and induration inside. The same procedure needs to be done with the second testicle.
  • On the lower part of the scrotum, find appendages – tube-shaped structure, subtle mass that is located on the back and top side of each testicle. Normally, appendages should feel soft.
  • Carefully feel the seminal cords (located above and behind the appendages) – they should be elastic and smooth.

4. Clean your penis with water and regular soap

Urologists claim that colored soap with a strong smell can be a reason for allergies. It is better to clean the penis with unscented and fragrance-free soap twice a day, and even before and after sexual intercourse. Especially carefully you should clean the area located under the foreskin, since this is where smegma (a natural lubricant that keeps the penis moist) is collected.

Another important thing is to dry the penis well after washing: excess moisture can lead to the proliferation of bacteria. But this does not mean that you need to rub the penis until it turns red.

5. Wash your sex toys

This should be done before and after using the toys. Wash them with soap in warm water.

6. Get rid of those extra pounds

Excess weight is usually accompanied by raising levels of "bad" cholesterol. It tends to be deposited in the arteries, clogging them. The artery through which blood flows to the penis is quite narrow. If you face a frequent lack of erection in the morning, you should consult a doctor and have your cardiovascular system checked. Remember that an early diagnosis of the disease can help save your life.

7. Be physically active

An active lifestyle helps to speed up blood circulation and can serve as a good assistant in the excess weight prevention. Moreover, scientists from the Irving medical center (Columbia University) have concluded that physical exercise (even if a man started exercising at the age of 50) improves potency and increase the time duration of sex. Experts came to these conclusions in the course of studying the health status of several hundred men of different ages constantly engaging in exercise.

However, it is worth considering that not all activity is useful for men's health. You should avoid sedentary sports (such as cycling), as they lead to impaired blood supply to the penis and numbness that may affect the inguinal area.

8. Practice safer sex

According to the Planned Parenthood organization, the proper use of condoms during sex gives a 98 percent guarantee that the partner will not get pregnant.

9. Have an annual urological check-up

You need to be responsible about your intimate health and visit a urologist at least once a year and take all the necessary tests. Remember that many diseases (even cancer) that are diagnosed early can be treated.

10. Get enough sleep

The constant lack of sleep has a negative impact on the health and wellness of men. Lack of sleep can result in diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, apnea, etc.

Thus, these simple recommendations will grant you an opportunity to control intimate health and stay sexually active as you age.
